Met Office issues yellow warning as snow and ice set to fall across the county tonight

Icy blasts of rain, sleet and snow are set to fall over the coming hours with forecasters predicting one to three centimetres of snow cover across the north west.
A further yellow warning has been put out by the Met Office as the wintry showers are expected to cause travel disruption to roads and railway services.

Hide AdAdvice from the Met Office is to travel only if necessary and drivers should prepare for journeys to take longer.
There is likely to be large icy patches across roads and surfaces and people are also advised to be cautious when walking out and about to avoid injury from slips and falls.
Skies are expected to clear from the north overnight and widespread ice is likely to develop and persist through to Monday morning.
